Dear customers,

The Wine By You web site is being accessed and we hope that our customers are finding it useful. . Watch for the dates indicating pages are updated.

For the 2009 WineMaker International Amateur Wine Competition, we won 3 medals.  We won a Silver on the Winery Series Old Vine Zinfandel and a Silver for the Australian Bush Vine Grenache and a Bronze for the Limited Release South African Shiraz. The competition is the largest and most diverse collection of wines with over 4300 entries and about 1000 medals being awarded.

One of our customers recently asked what a Süss-Reserve pack was. The Süss-Reserve comes with Gewurztraminer and some other off-dry wines.

The Süss-Reserve is German for "sweet reserve," referring to unfermented grape juice that's set aside to be added later to fully fermented (dry) wines in order to achieve the desired level of sweetness. The Germans developed this technique so that winemakers don't have to be so exacting about arresting fermentation in order to control residual sugar. The procedure also lowers the use of sulfur dioxide, which is often employed to stop fermentation. There are strict rules about using Süss-Reserve, including limiting its volume to 15 percent of the final wine and ensuring that its origin and quality are the same as the wine to which it's added.

Hours

Our hours of operation are posted on the contacts page, and since we are normally closed Mondays when most statutory holidays occur, for most of those holidays we have closed on the Saturday instead. We hope you are not inconvenienced by this, but it does give me the occasional 3 days off with Ian and Kayleigh.

In addition the actual hours we are open are now from 9:30am to 5:15pm (0930 to 1715 for the 24 hour clock). Why 5:15, you ask? Kayleigh has to be picked up from daycare before 5:30. Accommodation will be made to be open for late bottlings on request.

One of the main reasons to keep coming back to this webpage is to keep you aware of the specials at Wine By You , so make sure you visit the Specials page. Also we are carrying the new 5 week Grand Cru series. The reds, with the exception of the Pinot Noir are fermented on dried grape skins and both the reds and whites contain 12 litres of juice. This is a great addition to the other 8 week crushed grape kits we already carry. To see all our products including new ones we have introduced see our Products page.

We are introducing a new rewards program for introducing new customers. We like our customers, and we are sure we will like their friends as well. Here is your chance to show off the friends that have been enjoying your wine and profit from it. When you introduce a new customer to Wine By You and they put on wine, we will give you ten dollars off your next wine kit (and maybe they will let you enjoy their new wine). Introduce another new customer and we will again give you ten dollars off. For every fourth new customer that you introduce instead of $10 off we will give you the $40 service charge off your next batch of wine made on premises.
